LIHU‘E — There was no other opportunity for Na Koa Kupuna to pick up a “W” as the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League’s 70s Division closed out its 2023 season on Saturday with a doubleheader at Isenberg Park.
Na Koa Kupuna took a 17-10 win over Tsunami to mark its first win in the 11-game season, and despite a strong comeback effort, the Koloa Cane Cutters came up five runs short against the Ahukini Wharf Rats.
“This is a fitting end to the 70s Division season,” said J.C. Crouch. “Na Koa Kupuna earned its first win of the year! And then, the Ahukini Wharf Rats needed to score 26 runs to hold off the Koloa Cane Cutters, who pushed 14 runs in the final inning but still couldn’t catch the Rats. What an exciting finish to the ‘Super Seniors’ division. Congratulations to Ele Makule for winning the league with an undefeated 11-0 season.”
Crouch said the proposed Labor Day Tournament will not be played this year.
