Milagrosa Farinas Ramos
Milagrosa Farinas Ramos, 72, passed away on July 6, 2023. She was born in Narvacan, Philippines on Dec. 9, 1950, and worked as a chambermaid at various hotels.
She was preceded in passing by parents Angel and Barbara Farinas and brother Felimon Farinas.
She is survived by husband German Ramos, children Von Ramos, Randy (Joanne) Ramos and German (Kris) Ramos Jr.
A celebration of life is at Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, July 28. Visitation starts at 9 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., and burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home.

Helen Sakiko Uyeno
Helen Sakiko Uyeno, of Kaua‘i, passed away on July 12, 2023, at Garden Island Health Care, at the age of 92. She was born on Jan. 13, 1931, on Kaua‘i.
She was a waitress at Barbeque Inn in Lihu‘e.
She was preceded in death by husband Tokio Uyeno and parents Junko and Masao Nonaka.
She is survived by son Eldon Uyeno.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family.

Rusty Lyn Cleveland
Rusty Lyn Cleveland, of Lihu‘e, passed away on April 30, 2023 in Lihu‘e, at the age of 59. He was born on March 5, 1964, in Sisseton, South Dakota. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was an operations manager of Hawai‘i Care and Cleaning.
He was preceded in death by mother Hazel Cleveland.
He is survived by daughter Angela (Kashmir) Makena-Rayno of Lihu‘e, father Keith Cleveland of Bismarck, North Dakota, brothers Randy (Chris) Cleveland of Salt Lake City and Ricky Cleveland of Bismarck, North Dakota, sister Roberta Mueller of Bismarck, North Dakota, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held at a later date. The family requests casual attire.

Peter Paul ‘Rip’ Rayno
Peter Paul “Rip” Rayno, 83, passed away at his home in Lihu‘e on July 18, 2023. He was born on Kaua‘i on Nov. 1, and was raised in Hanama‘ulu.
He was preceded in death by parents Peter and Beatrice Rayno, daughter Roxi Makena and brother James “Cashim” Amorin.
He is survived by daughter Joy (Kerry) Nuivo of Lihu‘e, grandchildren Brad “Pekelo” (Tara) Dettloff of O‘ahu, Ryndie “Luana” (Gabriel) Sarsona of Idaho, Lyle “Kilika” (Jennie) Dettloff of Washington, Angela “Kashmir” Cleveland Makena Rayno, Kolton “Makana” Medeiros and Chanler “Aikane” Medeiros, all of Lihu‘e, brother Gene (Marilyn “Tootsie”) Rayno of Lihu‘e, sister Matilda “Matty” (Amorin) Baldovino of Washington, sister-in-law Maggie Amorin of Hanama‘ulu, and five great-grandchildren.
He attended Hanama‘ulu School and graduated from Kaua‘i High School in 1958. He was an athlete, coached multiple sports including baseball, softball, basketball and football, and was a referee. He worked for the Lihu‘e Plantation Company until its closure, Kaua‘i Surf and Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School up until the end of the 2022-23 school year. He volunteered much of his time for the Kaua‘i community.
Funeral services are at Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, Aug. 18. Visitation begins at 9 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., and burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
Lucina Bayuca Cabanting
Lucina Bayuca Cabanting, of ‘Ele‘ele, passed away on July 12, 2023 at her home, at the age of 97. She was a domestic engineer.
She was preceded in death by parents Modesto and Crispina Bayuca, husband Fausto Cabanting, brothers Marcos and Frisco Bayuca and sisters Maria Bayuca and Luisa Daproza.
She is survived by sisters Rustica and Esperanza Bayuca and Carina Koch, daughters Jane (Larry) Smoke, Judy Cabanting and Erlinda (Raj) Cabanting, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Sacred Heart Mission Church in ‘Ele‘ele. Visitation begins at 9 a.m., Mass celebrated at 10 a.m., and burial will follow at St. Raphael Catholic Cemetery.
