Helen Angela Boreliz
Helen Angela Boreliz, of Kapa‘a, passed away on June 2, 2023 at Garden Island Health Care at the age of 97.
She was preceded in death by husband Felix Boreliz and daughter Diana Mae Boreliz.
She is survived by daughters Beatrice Boreliz and Mercy Labrador, son Joseph Scalzo, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Private services were held.
The family would like to acknowledge Kaua‘i Hospice and the nurses.

Jose L. Bernades Sr.
Jose L. Bernades Sr. passed away on June 14, 2023 at Wilcox Medical Center at the age of 87. He was born on July 14, 1935, in Koloa. He was an U.S. Army veteran and a retired supervisor at Lihu‘e Plantation Company.
He was preceded in death by parents Gregorio and Crisanta Bernades and sister Helen Batangan.
He is survived by wife Eden Lopez, brother Larry (Julie) Bernades, sisters Trining and Gin Bernades, sons Jose (Renee Domingo) Bernades Jr. and Bryan (Rebekah) Bernades, daughter Michelle (Ed) Cummings, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit the family on Friday, Aug. 18, at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihue from 5 to 8 p.m.
A service is Saturday Aug. 19, at Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m., Mass celebrated at 10 a.m., and burial will follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe at 1 p.m.

Gabriel Calventas
Amancio “Mancio” Gabriel Calventas, of Kilauea, passed away on July 8, 2023 at the age of 84. He was born in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on June 9, 1939. He was a retired housekeeper at the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas.
He was preceded in death by parents Maria and Bernardo Calventas, wife Estrella Calventas and brother Fred Calventas.
He is survived by daughters Lita (Lito) Peralta, Adoracion Siniga, Andrea (Ferdinand) Lagutan, Espie (Roy) Padre, Imelda (Mauricio) Sawad and Erma (Lindon) Calventas, son Alexander (Roshel) Calventas, sisters Loling Calventas and Norma (Juanito) Yanos, brother (Primo) Calventas, 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, July 25, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a. Visitation begins at 9 a.m., Mass celebrated at 10 a.m., and burial will follow at St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery in Kapa‘a.
