LIHU‘E — A number of lane and shoulder closures are scheduled this week on Kaua‘i, with a particular emphasis in the Wailua area, the state Department of Transportation said in a weekly advisory.
The closures are subject to change.
Kalaheo
• A single-lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in either direction, for tree trimming, between mile markers 10.3 and 11.4, in the vicinity of Koloa Road and Hokua Road, on Monday and Tuesday, June 19 and 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Traffic in both directions will contraflow through the open westbound lane.
Kapa‘a
• A single-lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road is possible in either direction for tree trimming between mile markers 4 and 6.5, in the vicinity of Hawaiiana Street, Monday through Friday, June 19 to 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kealia
• A single-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction for reconstruction and paving in the vicinity of Mailihuna Road and Aliomanu Road, on Wednesday and Thursday, June 21 and 22, from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Kilauea
• A single-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction, for grass cutting, between mile markers 23 and 27, in the vicinity of Kuawa Road and Princeville, from Monday through Friday, June 19 to 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Lawa‘i
• A shoulder closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in either direction, for surveying work, between mile markers 10 and 15, in the vicinity of Akemama Road and Laulea Street, Monday through Friday, June 19 to 23, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wainiha
• A lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in the southbound direction, for tree trimming and hauling debris, between mile markers 6 and 8, in the vicinity of Lumaha‘i Beach and Alealea Road, Monday through Friday, June 19 to 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Lihu‘e
• A closure of one lane of Nawiliwili Road is scheduled, in the westbound direction, for grass cutting and guardrail clearing, between mile markers 0 and 2, in the vicinity of Kukui Grove Street and Wa‘apa Road, Monday through Friday, June 19 to 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wailua
• A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes are possible at any time on Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements;
• A single-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction, for guardrail, drainage installation and striping work, between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamo‘o Road and the Kapa‘a bypass, Monday through Friday, June 19 to 23, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.;
• Two-lane closures of Kuhio Highway are possible in either direction, between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamo‘o Road and the Kapa‘a bypass, through Friday, June 23, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for lane smoothness grinding, striping layout and drainage work, as a part of the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements. Traffic will alternate in both directions through one open lane.
