And, the winner is … how about one of the charter chefs of the Kaua‘i Poke Festival … Chef Rafael Camarillo (Kenny Ishii moved to Florida, which is why Aunty Ono is now a mexican food place) … tickets are still available for this afternoon … Bruce Sakimae said Taylor Sakimae of the Kaua‘i Poke Company is going to try.

The Kaua‘i Poke Festival should be a media event, as at least two TV stations have publicly announced their presence at the Koloa Landing Resort for the event … are they staying over to cover the Rotary Club of Kapa‘a’s Taste of Hawai‘i (yes, tickets are still available online at www.tasteofhawaii.net) Sunday at the Smith’s Tropical Paradise? … no wonder Fast Company has been missing Jackie Nelson as crew … Larry Feinstein of the Kaua‘i Beer Company (they’re ready for the Pride Parade, today!) was able to catch a moana on Thursday evening, where the Weatherly and Double Espresso crews were a victim of the cold bug.
Rhan Honjo of the Nawiliwili Yacht Club said the Father’s Day Fishing Derby is a go for this year — Father’s Day is coming up, soon (June 18 is right around the corner) … there is an entry fee, but that’s minimal considering every keiki fisher gets lunch, and depending on the generosity of the community businesses, goes home with a prize (no, the fish are back in the water).
And Bridget Arume and Families First have a preview, Saturday, with their first free fishing tournament at Nawiliwili … look for the tents and banners in the Nawiliwili Park/jetty parking area.
