LIHU‘E — Waimea High School captured the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation title by edging past Island School, the 2022 champions, in a decisive playoff contest after the Menehune got off to a slow start and gained momentum during the season’s second half.
Four Menehune, including Haweo Akeo getting the nod as Player of the Year, were voted to the KIF Boys Volleyball All-Stars that was released by the KIF on Tuesday.
Tori Kagawa, the coach for the Menehune, received Coach of the Year honors after leading the Menehune to the KIF title, and eventual state Division II third place after Waimea was stung by the tournament’s top seed.
The runner-up Voyagers placed four on the All-Stars, including Orion Magaoay getting the nod as Setter
Kapa‘a placed a Warrior on the list, and Kaua‘i High School saw two players make All-Stars.
