WAIMEA — Waimea High School Athletic Director Jon Kobayashi announced that the Waimea High School Athletic Department is accepting applications and resumes for a softball coach.
Interested individuals can email their resume to Kobayashi at jon.kobayashi@k12.hi.us by 3 p.m., June 16.
The Waimea High School softball program recently returned from the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Division II championships with its second consecutive runner-up trophy after the top seeded team in the tournament dropped a 13-12 heartbreaker to No. 3 seed PAC-5 at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.
During the 2022 season, Waimea, earned a berth in the championships by winning a play-in contest. But then settled for a runner-up trophy after being beat 13-5 by No. 2 seed Kapa‘a High School on Maui.
Waimea High School earned a Division II crown in 2012 after the Menehune, top seeded in that year’s championship play, beat the No. 2 seed Nanakuli, 12-4.
