PO‘IPU — The Kaua‘i High School girls took their series against Island School, 3-2, and the Kaua‘i High School boys lost 3-2 to the Voyager boys on Saturday, April 15, 2023, during Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation matches contested at the Po‘ipu Kai tennis courts.
No results were available from the Waimea and Kapa‘a high school matches that were played at a different site on Saturday.
“I believe these results secured the Kaua‘i High School girls as the KIF champions,” said Jennifer Hreljac, the Kaua‘i High School tennis coach. “Island School boys are the KIF champions.”
The KIF qualifying tournament starts on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Hanapepe Stadium and Waimea High School tennis courts. Final play for the tournament takes place on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Kapa‘a High School tennis courts.
Traditionally, the first- and second-place finishers from this tournament earn spots in the state Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Hawai‘i Medical Service Association State Tennis Championships that will take place May 4 to 6 at Central O‘ahu Regional Park.

Girls No. 3 doubles: Taylee Yoshimoto and Samantha Tominaga (Kau) defeated Thea Johnson and Ashley Chun (IS), 6-3, 6-0;
Boys No. 1 singles: Michael Fitzgerald (IS) defeated Dillon Fulks (Kau), 6-0, 6-2;
Boys No. 2 singles: Mark Fitzgerald (IS) defeated Rasil Manandhar (Kau), 7-5, 6-1;
Boys No. 1 doubles: Tanner Hubbard and Isaac Mirey (Kau) defeated Ryan So and Jacob Brosamer (IS);
Boys No. 2 doubles: Bodhi Jones and Ignacio Elzaurdia (IS) defeated Cody Torres and Keyan Fort (Kau), 6-4, 6-3;
Boys No. 3 doubles: Nigel Agcaoili and Brody Kapali (Kau) defeated Ryan Biederman and Graydon Rosenthal (IS), 6-3, 6-2.
