LIHU‘E — With just this weekend to go, the Rookies, defending champions from the 2022 season, squeaked by Barteks, 18-16 to remain undefeated in the standings for the first round of the Kaua‘i Senior Softball league.
With the win, the Rookies are 10-0 with two games remaining to be made up. Barteks completed their play for the first round with a 10-2 records with no games remaining to be made up.
On Saturday, the Kaua‘i Senior Softball league continues with contests schedule for the Kaumakani field when West Kaua‘i takes on Solid Steel in a 9 a.m. opener.
The Hillsiders, dropping two games Saturday, go up against Kuku’s Aces starting at 10:30 a.m., and the Rookies face Makos starting at noon to close the contests at Kaumakani.
Games for the 70s division were rained out Friday.
Weather permitting the 70s division plays on Fridays at Isenberg Park with the first games starting at 9 a.m.
