Brudda Kelly Phillips emceed the Royal Order of Kamehameha protocol on Saturday at Prince Kuhio Park in Kukui‘ula, where the group hosted ho‘okupu presentations by many dignitaries. He’s an honorary member, too. Dana Hazelton got to represent Gov. Josh Green for the first time “officially” after being appointed, and Hawaiian organizations said all the u‘a (the weather people have eyes on more coming this week) has caused the koa haole to flourish (see the connection to agriculture).

Christine Chow became “not sked” of entering the Prince Kuhio Park, and is coordinating a work group on behalf of the royal order (they’re the park caretakers) to do some work on the new acreage adjacent to the park that was recently donated by the Kukui‘ula Development Co. Look for details coming up. We really miss our Teddy Blake, Aunty Lovey Apana (her former hula students are planning a reunion on Aug. 5!), and Aunty Janet Kahalekomo!
Kudos, Hank Curtis, on providing all that “farm music” during the Agriculture Week Celebration, where the Easter bunny (sneak peek for the Kukui Grove Center’s upcoming Easter festivities) had a ball playing with the Hartung Brothers (nice onions and produce by Aloun Farms surrounding Hank on the stage!) people, who had agricultural opportunities resources. Are we going to have Aloun Farms pumpkins for Halloween, again?
Nah, gotta check out Chucky Boy Chock (he offered the opening oli announcing the royal order), the Kaua‘i Museum, and the visiting students from Moriyama, Japan (mahalo, all the families who are host families for the students!).
