Darin C. Rita
Darin C. Rita passed away on Dec. 5, 2022 at Wilcox Medical Center, at the age of 53. He was born on Oct. 20, 1969, in Waimea. He was a self-proprietor for refuse collection.
He was preceded in death by father William C. Rita and brother Eric William Rita.
He is survived by son Todd Alapa‘i-Rita, daughter Samantha Rita, mother Anna Rita, brothers David W. (Leslie) Rita of Kalaheo, Gordon S. Rita of Kalaheo and Brian C. (Wantana) Rita of Kalaheo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service is Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Garden Island Mortuary. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. and services at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Doreen Naleieha Kanahele
Doreen Naleieha Kanahele passed away on Jan. 1, 2023, in Hanapepe, at the age of 59. She was born on July 9, 1963, in Pu‘uwai, Ni‘ihau.
She was preceded in death by father ‘Oihana Leimana Kanahele and mother Evaline Kawaiho‘ola Kanahele.
She is survived by son Simon Peter Kaleipoinaole Kanahele of Hanapepe, daughter Jerry Ku‘uipoleipoinaole Shintani of Hanapepe, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brother Tom Keali‘i Kanahele of Hanapepe, sisters Evaline Tuti Kanahele of Kapalama, O‘ahu and Mileka Pu‘uwai Kanahele of Nanakuli, O’ahu, and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Shantel Lee Amulacion
Shantel Lee Amulacion left us to join the Lord at the age of 40 on Dec. 13, 2022. Born on Aug. 7, 1982, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea. She will always be remembered as loving, caring and free-spirited, and she always enjoyed her life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Im Song Bong and Yi Jon Yong and paternal grandparents Cosme Amulacion Sr. and Fortunata “Titang” Amulacion.
She is survived by parents Cedric (Smack) and Ok Son Amulacion, her lifelong partner and best friend Ahren Kaneshiro, son Kanaloa Amulacion, sisters Cheryl (Johnny) and Selena, niece Hokulani, nephews Jonas and Kapili, along with numerous uncles, aunties and cousins.
Please join our ‘ohana in a celebration of life on Jan. 29, at Kekaha Neighborhood Center, starting at noon.
