The Kaua‘i Krush girls softball program got to take advantage of the Monday day off to have its program “test out” and “get a feel of the new infield” at the Peter Rayno Sr. Park softball field in Hanama‘ulu, where many volunteers spent the weekend working on. Yes, coach, the girls spent hours “handpicking” the bigger rocks out of the infield. Now, how does the infield play?
Mayette Loseto missed the Grove Farm Market because she was harvesting black pine in Koke‘e for all those kadomatsu she had available on Monday at the Kukui Grove Center Pau Hana Market in preparation for the New Year’s. Charlmaine Bulosan said she’s never gotten one before, and needed to learn where to place it. Did you see the size of the lemons at the Pau Hana Market?
Amy Chun said it’s citrus season now (make sure you have leaves on the tangerines for the mochi display). Francis and Geraldine Baniaga were getting orders for the new year’s feasting, and a reminder that Rose Garabilla of Rose’s Pinoy Favorites (don’t forget the fancy dessert shop, too) is spearheading the annual Rizal Day program, on Friday from 11 a.m. at Kukui Grove Center that celebrates the achievements of Philippines national hero Dr. Jose Rizal (his statue graces the lawn of the Historic County Building on Rice Street in Lihu‘e).
And, there’re just two weeks left before the Kaua‘i Society of Artists’ Big Show Small Works exhibit wraps up on Jan. 6 at ths KGC gallery. The exhibit is open daily from noon for free viewing and talking story with some of the participating artists who do gallery-sitting duty.
