Remember Stacy Haitsuka, who came over with the HGEA O‘ahu and Maui to participate in the Lights on Rice holiday parade? Well, her mom Ruth was here on Saturday to “get some love” from the Kaua‘i Association for Family and Community Education (Ruth is the state AFCE president!) said Laurie Ho (so, what is a Chinese Fire Drill?), the KAFCE president, on “Ruth’s last hurrah as state president and honoring and thanking her for leading the KAFCE [and other AFCE clubs] through the pandemic.” Ruth got a lot of those special KAFCE goodies that are all made with love and aloha.

Kudos, Chucky Boy Chock and the Kaua‘i Museum ‘ohana for hosting Hi‘ipoi Kanahele Vakameilau (how was that prime rib special from Hoku’s food truck from the ‘We Are Kekaha’ event?) and Ni‘ihau Day (Hi‘ipoi said all the Ni‘ihau Shell earring kits sold out!) where a lot of moms are going to be surprised to get special Christmas gifts. And kudos, Kumu Hula Leina‘ala Pavao Jardin for getting Kauana Torres Kahele for sharing his Ni‘ihau Shell wisdom with the island at her pop-up (how many of you got to meet Robert Cazimero?).
Kudos, Waimea High School football coach Kyle Linoz (the Menehune football team was at the ‘We Are Kekaha’ event, too!) on being selected as Coach of the Year by Nick Abramo and Bedrock Sports Hawai‘i from ALL the football coaches in Hawai‘i … Waipahu’s Liatama Uiliata (Kapa‘a football won’t be forgetting him, too!) was the Bedrock Sport’s Offensive Player of the Year!
Mahalo, Dawn Wooten of the KIF Paddling officials’ crew for the pleasant surprise from Saturday’s regatta.
