Lihu‘e lights up for the holidays

The Festival of Lights is on every night from 6 p.m. to about midnight at the Historic County Building on Rice Street in Lihu‘e after being turned on during Thanksgiving. The Festival of Lights turn on from about 4:30 to 6:30 a.m. through New Year’s Day.

A family enjoys Thanksgiving night at the Festival of Lights that was turned on without fanfare on Thanksgiving night. Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to make their appearance on Friday when the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i Lights on Rice passes by starting from 6 p.m.

Santa moved to a new location near the Jamba Juice entrance to the Kukui Grove Center, where he is joined by a pair of iridescent reindeer who are monitored by Dasher, who has a ringside seat inside Santa’s House.

The Kukui Grove Center launched its Holiday Lights last Saturday night. The next scheduled show that includes computerized synchronization of music and light designs will take place Friday starting at 8 p.m., or following the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i Lights on Rice holiday parade.

Josh Pajela of Kukui Grove Center said the shopping center’s Holiday Lights will be held up until after the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i Lights on Rice holiday lights parade on Friday.
