PO‘IPU — The Kaua‘i High School Class of 1972 held its 50th year reunion on June 24 and 25. A turnout of 74 classmates plus their spouses and guests participated in the weekend events.
A Friday night get-together was held in the Kaua‘i Poke Company restaurant at the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course, with music provided by David Parsons III. A Saturday night dinner and dance was held in the Koloa Landing Na Pali Ballrooms, which also honored former teachers and coaches.
The reunion was planned by a committee that included Wesley Manaday, Diane Andres Melchor, Myra Arzadon, Laverne Yamamoto Wada, Bonnie Camarillo Dela Cruz, Carolyn Silva Dotario, Tony Melchor and Kauhi Ho‘okano.
Also included were Deacon Averiet Soto, Lynden Keala, Mark Hirabayashi, Rick Rasay, Voss Fernandes, Darrel Camat, Michael Eggert, Norman LeGoullon, Blanche Millare King, Tara Taylor, Jeffrey Andres, Marilyn Raquel Char and Norma Andres Hori.

There was a lot of fun and laughter all thoughout the weekend. It was heartwarming, and also a nice way to reconnect with classmates, many whom had not seen each other since their high school days, organizers said.
The celebration continued with another class reunion at the California Hotel in Las Vegas on Nov. 11 and 12.
