HANALEI — The state Department of Transportation announced that a single right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in the southbound direction between Waikoko Bridge and Waikoko Point on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 27 and Oct. 28, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., for the installation of a barrier fence at the base of the slope at Waikoko.
Kilauea
• Full intermittent closures of Kuhio Highway will occur between mile markers 19 and 22, Kapuna Road and Wailapa Road, Monday through Friday, Oct. 24 to 28, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., for joint sealant application;
• A roving, right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 21 and 23, Waikalua Street and vicinity of Ku‘awa Road, Monday through Friday, Oct. 24 to 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass and tree trimming around guardrails.
Kapa‘a
• Portions of Mailihuna, Hau‘a‘ala and Kawaihau roads will be closed and detours will be put in place from Monday through Friday, Oct. 24 to 28, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for the construction of the new roundabout. No road work will occur during the peak traffic times for school drop-off and pick-up.
Wailua
• A portion of Olohena Road, from Kamalu Road to Waipouli Road, will be closed from Monday through Friday, Oct. 24 to 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., to allow the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative and the county Department of Public Works Roads Division to conduct tree-cutting and debris removal around utility lines;
• A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway are possible in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass road, for the continued Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements. Lihu‘e
• A roving, single-lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 4 and 8, vicinity of Pu‘uana Road and Pune‘e Road, Monday through Friday, Oct. 24 to 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass trimming around guardrails.
Kekaha
• A portion of Koke‘e Road near Old Mana Road in Kekaha will be closed Monday to Wednesday, Oct. 24 to 26, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for road resurfacing work.
