KALAHEO — For the seventh year, the Kalaheo Dental Group is hosting its Halloween Candy Buyback on Nov. 1 from 2 to 5 p.m. at its offices in the Rainbow Plaza in Kalaheo.
Kalaheo Dental Group is calling keiki to support the country’s armed forces troops by bringing unopened candy that will be bought back by the Kalaheo Dental Group at a rate of $1 per pound to a maximum of 5 pounds.
Each candy “seller” will also earn eligibility for a drawing for a $100 gift card to Small Fry Kaua‘i in Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e.
The bought-back candy will be sent to the country’s troops through Operation Gratitude.
Each year, Operation Gratitude sends more than 300,000 individually addressed care packages to soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and Coast Guard personnel deployed overseas, to their children left behind, and to first responders, new recruits, veterans, wounded heroes and their caregivers.
During the 2018 candy buyback event, Kalaheo Dental Group received a phone call from a Kaua‘i unit of about 80 troops stationed in the Middle East asking to not be forgotten because they were spending the holidays away from their families.
