KALAHEO — The county reported that firefighters from the Kalaheo and Hanapepe fire stations responded to a brush fire Monday afternoon that broke out in a coffee field in Kalaheo.
KALAHEO — The county reported that firefighters from the Kalaheo and Hanapepe fire stations responded to a brush fire Monday afternoon that broke out in a coffee field in Kalaheo.
Shortly before 1 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a brush fire that was reported in a coffee field makai of the Kakela Makai subdivision in Kalaheo. The firefighters later discovered the fire was in an area on Kaua‘i Coffee Company property.
Receiving assistance from Kaua‘i Coffee personnel, the firefighters gained access to the fire and brought it under control.
Kaua‘i Coffee provided additional manpower and equipment, including a loader to help cut fire breaks and a water tender.
Following the quarter-acre brush fire being fully extinguished, the Kaua‘i Fire Department crews cleared the scene at approximately 2:30 p.m., while Kaua‘i Coffee personnel remained on site to monitor the area through the evening.
No injuries were reported.
No road closures were reported, and no structures were threatened during the response to the blaze.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
