The celebrities were out in force Sunday at The Battle of the Food Trucks on Kress Street in Lihu‘e, when Comedian and Member of the City &County of Honolulu Council Augie T was taking selfies with that construction wall screening that was created by the Garden Island Arts Council for a Rice Street event, and Amanda Smith, TV’s “Living 808” guest chef, had her full-on video crew in tow.

Congratulations, Pineapple Express Kaua‘i, on being the recipient of the battle’s chef-judged award (mahalo, Laurie Ho, for being able to get the winners that were announced!). And kudos to Japanese Grandma’s Cafe (she’s at the National Tropical Botanical Garden Aloha Market Thursdays in Kukui‘ula as well as the Friday Art Night in Hanapepe!) on getting the People’s Choice Award.
Gerald Ako said U.S. House candidate and state Sen. Jill Tokuda (she said the O‘ahu Goteborg is not the same as the Kaua‘i Goteborg) hit the Puakea Grill in Lihu‘e (yeah, she loved the andagi at the Grove Farm bon odori festival!) on her Monday trips to Kaua‘i (she had a meeting with the Hawai‘i Government Employees Association members this trip) because Tip Top is closed Mondays.
