Kiele Rose Casillas (yes, newly-install Miss Kaua‘i Filipina!) was doing a last service project before heading off to college (Mayor Derek and Mrs. Monica Kawakami had Hailey being squared away for the fall semester, too), and the new Miss Hawai‘i Sr. (not “Jr.”) Elementary Hi‘ilei Berg started volunteering from Friday for both the 43rd Visitor Industry Charity Walk, and the ‘Ohana Fun Fair.

Congratulations, Claudia Lowdy, Samira Siale, Dan King, and the hundreds of volunteers for creating the opportunity for young people like Kiele Rose to have an opportunity to volunteer, and discover that volunteering can also be fun!
Kudos, Randy Francisco, Rebecca Carnate (Janga makes a good substitute for sold-out COVID-19 home tests) on launching FilCom during the two big Saturday events. Randy said Rose Pinoy’s Favorites, a Kaua‘i Filipino Chamber of Commerce (Labor Day golf coming!) member, is also celebrating its anniversary at the Kukui Grove Center.
Looking ahead, Kaua‘i Community College opens for the Fall Semester (Bobby Girald of the Kaua‘i Bonsai Club had two of three students from Okinawa meeting and talking with Sylvia Fujii before school starts), and FilCom allows more access to healthcare for those in the rural and underserved areas.
