KAPA‘A — The county Department of Public Works and Grace Pacific LLC announced that portions of Mailihuna, Hau‘a‘ala and Kawaihau roads will be closed from Monday through Friday, Aug. 22 to 26, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The five-way intersection will experience temporary traffic shifts, and temporary traffic-control plans will be in place.
These closures are necessary for clearing and grubbing work, roadway excavation and sidewalk construction. No road work will occur during the peak traffic times for school drop-offs and pickups.

Wainiha
• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between Ananalu Road and Alealea Road Monday, Aug. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for slurry sealing of pavement.
Hanalei
• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between Kumu Road and Waikoko Bay Monday through Friday, Aug. 22 to 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree and grass cutting.
Waikoko
• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between Waikoko Bay and Lumaha‘i Beach Monday through Friday, Aug. 22 to 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., for rockfall mitigation.
Kilauea
• A right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between Kapuna Road and Kahiliholo Road nightly from 8 p.m. today, Aug. 21, through 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, for installation of rumble strips and pavement striping.
Wailua
• A single, alternating-lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road is possible in either direction between mile markers 0.17 and 3.67, Huehu Road and Kau Wai Street, Monday through Friday, Aug. 22 to 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for guardrail cleaning;
• A single, alternating-lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road is possible in either direction between mile markers 5.57 and 5.89 in the vicinity of Wailua Reservoir, Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 22 and 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree trimming;
• A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway are possible in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements;
• A two-lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 5.6 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass road, nightly from 8 p.m. today, Aug. 21, through 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, for paving for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements.
Lihu‘e
• A single, alternating-lane closure on Kapule Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 2.91 and 2.98, Kapule Highway bridge, Thursday through Friday, Aug. 24 to 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for tree trimming.
Koloa
w A closure of the left turn from Maluhia Road onto westbound Kaumuali‘i Highway will occur for intersection improvements;
w A closure of the shoulder lane in the Lihu‘e-bound direction on Kaumuali‘i Highway will occur between mile markers 5.74 and 6.44, vicinity of Maluhia Road and Kahili Road, Monday through Friday, Aug. 22 to 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for shoulder grading.
Lawa‘i
• A roving, single-lane closure is possible in either direction on Kaumualiʻi Highway between Upa Road and vicinity of Waialo Road Monday through Friday, Aug. 22 to 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for guardrail repair.
