LIHU‘E — The county Office of Economic Development is requesting proposals for fiscal year 2022-23 Innovation Grants.
The current county fiscal year began July 1, 2022.
Applications are being accepted through the Amplifund Grants contract-management system. To apply, visit the Kaua‘i Forward website, kauaiforward.com/innovation-grant-2023/.
All applications must be submitted via the Amplifund system on or before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31. Applications are not being accepted through mail, email or fax. Proposals received after the deadline will not be considered.
Applicants will be notified of funding during the week of Oct. 15. The project funding period is Nov. 1, 2022 to Oct. 31, 2023.
The intent of this grant program is to support new programs or projects that advance innovation by identifying and solving local problems in the areas of small business, technology, transportation, agriculture, local manufacturing, creative industries, workforce development, circular economies and tourism on Kaua‘i.
Eligible nonprofit organizations can apply for varying amounts up to $50,000 of funding for projects in varying sectors that generate short-term and long-term economic growth and diversification on Kaua‘i.
Proposals must identify a known deficiency, problem or need within the Kaua‘i community and deploy an innovative community project that will be or has been successful in other contexts.
The OED hosts an informational webinar on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. that will provide an overview of the Innovation Grants and review the application process.

Many non profits equal a waste of taxpayer dollars. Hopefully the money dries up and people will return to working jobs that actually produce. Wonder why there is a labor shortage on Kauai.
