WAILUA — Art Fujita of the Kapa‘a High School Foundation announced that this year’s in-person lu‘au at Smith’s Family Garden Lu‘au on Sept. 17 will be honoring graduates from the Kapa‘a High School classes of 1947 through 1952.
The outing that starts at 9:30 a.m. includes a boat ride to the Fern Grotto aboard a Smith’s Motor Boat Service craft, and the lu‘au lunch, where all attendees will be eligible for lucky-number drawing. There will also be picture-taking opportunities and live entertainment,.
Following the lunch, the classes of 1947 through 1952 will be provided some time to honor their classmates.
For individuals from the honored classes, admission is $55. All other attendees will be admitted for $70 each. Registration for the lu‘au can be done by contacting Leila Kaneholani at 808-821-4401, ext. 105, or contacting Fujita at 808-651-4325, or emailing artfujita@hawaii.rr.com.
The foundation is seeking monetary help to defray the cost of the luncheon.
“Additionally, we are looking to purchase gift cards from businesses in the Kapa‘a to Hanalei area who have been strong supporters of the Kapa‘a High School Foundation.”
For sponsorship opportunities, the foundation is seeking contributions of $1,500 for the boat ride prior to the lunch, and $1,000 to cover the entertainment during the lu‘au. Fujita said the foundation is looking for contributions of $500 to $1,000 to purchase gift cards for honorees.
