Happy Fourth from Emilia Knudsen, who was able to get a few rounds in on the Tropical Tantrum-sponsored Bermuda Blast before the sun set Friday night at the FreedomFest family fun event at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e.

Kudos to the event organizers, who off pulled the Friday-afternoon event (no fireworks!), where Emilia had a table raising money for her trip to Paris, where she was offered a walk on the catwalk at the 2023 Paris Fashion Week. It’s amazing that after raising money for everyone else throughout these past years, she’s now doing a fundraiser for herself with her line of Emilia-created items, including jewelry that has eight years’ of polishing.
Emilia still has her Keiki Dough, a school-project-based item that started her on her journey eight years ago at the Hanapepe Art Night (mom said Emilia will be back in Hanapepe July 8 when the Friday Night Art starts up again). Check out her Kaua‘i Fashion Show and Dance Party coming up at Lydegate Park, and possibly become part of Team EmiliaK-Paris.
Kudos to Carmela Pablo and her ‘ohana on getting Pau Hana T’s relocated just in time for all those back-too-school wear at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e, where Melissa McFerrin-Warrack is trying to figure out something Fourth of July-ish for the Pau Hana Market (yes, they’re open on the Fourth, too!), and Jean Souza and her National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration intern Abigail Seibel are getting excited about teaching keiki shark (for those 8 to 12 years old) how to swim July 10. Yes, that is a Sunday!
OK, time to cool down by visiting Mindy Hibbitt at Riptides Shave Ice at PK’s. No more talking story at Cell Everything Hawai‘i. Welcome to Kaua‘i, Laulani Teale and Ike ‘Opio Project that is a part of Ho‘opai Peach Project that got to enjoy some Kaua‘i mango (mahalo, Nani Rogers!) on Kress Street at the Friday Night Art project in Lihu‘e.
