Congratulations to all the public high school graduates! There’re 648 of you who celebrated in-person with family and friends. (“bring your umbrellas in case it rains,” said the Kaua‘i High School senior advisor during practice Friday).

Dr. Roger Netzer said while he was in school, an instructor told him, “Virus is a mutable tribe” (say that three times, and you’ll know why he tells his patients, “You don’t have cancer” or “You not going make” three times). Kudos, Jen Chahanovich and the Kaua‘i Medical Center ‘ohana for hosting an in-person reception celebrating the retirement of Drs. Netzer and Monty Downs after each doctor provided 50 years of service to the people of Kaua‘i.
More kudos and congratulations to Waimea High School teacher Shelby Ann Erdmann on being named the Kaua‘i Complex Area Teacher of the Year (and mahalo, Principal Mahina Anguay, on the heads-up on the announcement). Definitely well-deserved!
Congratulations, Jori Jasper and Mattie Tago (yes, snail mail works!) on the arrival of Titan Atuatasi Tago on April 23 in Fort Carson, Colorado! Congratulations, too, to Jori’s family here on Kaua‘i.
OK, now it’s on to see who’s going to wear Tiffany Sagucio’s crown as the next Miss Kaua‘i Filipina. She gets to work with Myrvie Buster at Garden Island Federal Credit Union.
