Kudos to Waimea Canyon Middle School students Jordyn Esaki and Adrian Smith (he likes to do 3D printing!) of the school’s Genius Hour afterschool club (it’s all right, Mayor Derek Kawakami, we can wait until you get your face mask) for inspiring Tisha Remigio, Stephanie Iona, Laurie Yoshida and all those hands to host the Waimea Canyon Middle School food distribution so the homeless people can have food during the spring break.

The organizers were so well coordinated Kawakami even had time to play basketball with the keiki at the county’s youth basketball program next door at the Waimea Athletic Field.
County Councilmember Billy DeCosta (no, it’s the young DeCosta’s senior year so he had to go watch baseball) was doing the substitute-dad thing with Island School’s Kameron Lee, who was watching the Menehune host Kapa‘a (Curt Correa said Waimea’s Tresten Shigematsu threw a 2-hitter with 12 strikeouts!) before taking the mound for Island School against Kaua‘i High School in the Voyagers’ first-ever Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation baseball game.
Kudos, Rob Silverman and the Rob’s Good Times Grill ‘ohana on adding the six to eight sidewalk vendors to the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market on the second Saturday of the month, where Liliana Estep (Shell of A Life!) got to be a shopper instead of a vendor, and Kylie Kuhlmann (was that a flying saucer she’s eating?) came home from O‘ahu to join mom Donya McKnight, who missed the Precious Plastic connection (Lexi Jones said you can’t drive an unsafe trailer). Oh well, there’s always the April market.
