This brings the county’s number of active, recorded cases to 268, with eight in the hospital.
According to the Hawai‘i Emergency Management Agency, as of Friday, two are in the intensive-care unit.
Saturday’s case count represents a sharp decline in cases from earlier this year as the highly transmissible omicron variant spiked infections. However, the county has seen five COVID-19 related fatalities in the past week.
A free testing site at Kaua‘i War Memorial Conventional Hall in Lihu‘e is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A mobile testing clinic will be at the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex in Kapa‘a today from 1 to 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
The convention hall testing center is limited to 500 tests per day, and the free mobile testing van is limited to 100 tests per day.
