LIHU‘E — The county will continue its distribution of free at-home COVID-19 tests, moving its focus to the Eastside today, with stops in Anahola and Kapa‘a.
The county, in partnership with the state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office, will start the day from 9 a.m. to noon at the Anahola Clubhouse.
With a large anticipated turnout, distribution in Kapa‘a will be at the Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex in Kapa‘a from 1 to 4 p.m., rather than the first-reported location of the Kapa‘a Neighborhood Center.
As with the other locations, there is a total of 1,500 tests available, with a limit of five tests per household.
Tests are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Wednesday, the KDHO announced 159 new cases of COVID-19, which brings the number of active, recorded cases to 781, with 10 hospitalized. To date, the county has recorded 9,533 cumulative cases.
Free testing is available at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Today, Wilcox Health and Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation host a walk-in mobile van for vaccination for anyone ages 12 and older at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center from 1 to 5 p.m.
On Saturday, Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i will host two vaccine clinics open to those ages 5 and older, at Kanuikapono Public Charter School in Anahola and the Kekaha Neighborhood Center from 9 to 11 a.m. at both locations. No appointments are needed.
The county will distribute free at-home COVID-19 tests Friday at the Koloa Neighborhood Center from 9 a.m. to noon and Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center from 1 to 4 p.m. Households are also eligible to receive four free at-home tests through the federal program at covidtests.gov.
Aloha, I appreciate the efforts of our county to distribute free home tests. I got to the site in Kapa’a at 1:20 today . And they were All Gone. In 20 minutes! Will there be more? There’s a lot of residents on the east side. It is not convenient for me to go to Koloa tomorrow morning. Thank you.
