Tevita ‘Kaluseti’ Loumoli
Tevita “Kaluseti” Loumoli of Kalaheo passed away on Dec. 4, 2021, at the age of 72, in Lihu‘e. He was born on Nov. 21, 1949 in Tatakamotonga. He retired as a mason at Kaua‘i Nursery & Landscaping.
A kid at heart, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, gardening, preparing imu, drinking hot chocolate and watching cartoons. After his wife’s passing in 2012, he refused to return home to Tonga, insisting that he remained on Kaua‘i with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by wife Marilyn Vea Loumoli, daughter Miu Lan Esposo-Aguiar and parents Alifeleti and Mele Lausiva Loumoli.
He is survived by sons Pete Garabilez of Waimea and Chad (Lori) Cabral of Hanapepe, daughters Flora (Francis) Urabe of ‘Ele‘ele, Melissa (Daniel) Rivera of Koloa, Colleen (Ricky) Louis of Kalaheo and Lillian Cabral of Reno, Nevada, 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, brothers Tonga Piutau Loumoli of Tonga, Aisea Loumoli of Honolulu and Sioeli Loumoli of Utah, sisters Finau Siutiti Loumoli of Tonga, Manusiu Vake of Tonga, Mafi Felemi of Tonga and Nehu Tuakalau of Seattle, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is at Garden Island Mortuary on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 10 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire.

Shigeru Okihara
Shigeru Okihara passed away on Jan. 12, 2022 at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 97. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and welder for Kekaha Sugar Company.
He is survived by children Sharan Souza, Steven (Donna) Okihara and Faith Ryder, five grandsons, seven great-grandchildren, sister Michiyo Hori and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held. The family requests no koden (monetary gifts).
