Dora Ohama Sato
Dora Ohama Sato passed away on Dec. 29, 2021, at the age of 90, in Lihu‘e. She was born on Dec. 14, 1931, in Lihu‘e and was a librarian.
She was preceded in death by father Nobuto Ohama, mother Chiyoko Nii Ohama, brothers Albert Y. Ohama, George S. Ohama and Harry M. Ohama, and sisters Irene F. Yata and Hilda M. Ohama.
She is survived by son Dana K. Sato of Hilo, daughter Sara J. Sato of Honolulu, brother Stanley Ohama of Honolulu, and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Raymond Esona
Raymond Esona, 87, of Kilauea, passed away at home on April 14, 2020. He was born in Kalaheo on July 30, 1932. He was employed as foreman with the County of Kaua‘i Department of Water.
He was preceded in death by parents Florentino and Manuela Esona and wife Rose Esona.
He is survived by son Michael Esona, hanai daughter Sharnell Woodward and hanai son Tristan Espinosa.
A celebration of life is Friday, Jan. 14, at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by service at 10 a.m. and burial at 1 p.m. at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are required.
Katherine Claire Dilwith
Katherine Claire Dilwith, 80, of Reno, Nevada, passed away on Oct. 16, 2021. She was born in Kekaha and was a cook.
She was preceded in death by husband James Dilwith Sr., parents Ralph Fernandez and Rose Aperto-Naumu, brothers Eddie Fernandez and Henry Fernandez and grandson Dolen Dela Cruz Jr.
She is survived by daughters Christine Dela Cruz, Jami Dilwith and Michelle Dilwith, son Dominic Dilwith, 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brothers Melvin Fernandez and Daniel Fernandez, and sisters Bernice Fernandez and Jeanette Pahota.
A celebration of life is Saturday, Jan. 15, at St. Theresa Parish Church in Kekaha. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. followed by service at 10 a.m. Friends are welcome to join the family at Kekaha Beach Park pavilions immediately following the service. The family suggests casual or aloha attire.
Arnold Satoru Fujii
Arnold Satoru Fujii, 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Lihu‘e on Jan. 3, 2022. He was born in Kapaia on Nov. 13, 1937, and worked as a teacher at Kapa‘a High School, the state Department of Education district office and Kaua‘i Community College.
He was preceded in passing by wife Florinda (Yamasato) Fujii, parents Tsutomu and Fusayo Fujii and sister Stella Fujii.
He is survived by loving partner Kimiyo Navarro, his children Aric Fujii, Arvin (Masako) Fujii and Ardith (Kenny) Chung, brothers Stephen (Sylvia) Fujii, Roger (Amy) Fujii and Calvin (Pamela) Fujii, three grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services for a celebration of life will be announced in the future.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Edward ‘Eddie’ Lacro
Edward “Eddie” Lacro passed away peacefully at the Garden Island Rehabilitation & Healthcare in Lihue on Nov. 28, 2021, at the age of 81. He was born on June 23, 1940, in Waimea. He was a skilled and meticulous house painter, an avid fisherman and a talented handcrafter.
He was preceded in death by parents Vicente and Teodora Lacro and brothers Alfred Lacro, John, Carmelo, Tony and George.
He is survived by brother Julian (Annie) Lacro of Waimea, sister Margaret Lacro of Waimea, sons Lyman (Erika) Lacro of Kailua, O‘ahu, Chad (Amberlyn) Rita of Anahola, Chaz Rita of Kalaheo and Nalu Silva-Lacro of Kalaheo, daughters Larlyn (David) Fitzpatrick of Camas, Washington, Laynette (Tim) Pabro of Kealia, Leslie Lacro of Waimanalo, O‘ahu, and Leilan Kolaski of Vancouver, Washington, grandchildren Liam and Fiona Fitzpatrick, Lyman and Lake Lipke, Micah and Monica Lacro, Kaho‘ea, Ka‘anoi‘i and Kamalei Rita, sister-in-law Esther Lacro of Na‘alehu, Hawai‘i , and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
