Happy birthday, Erika Kleinfeld. This is Sunday so we’re not early!
Erika and Ziba Medeiros open up the Pacific Fireworks pop-up (it qualifies as a pop-up because when everything is gone, they’re closing!) pn the Nuhou Road side of the Hokulei Village Shopping Village next to Uncle’s Shave Ice (when does he open?).
Kudos, too, to David Sosner and the Kukui Grove Center team for allowing the COVID testing overflow to use the parking lot back of the Target store (Melissa McFerrin-Warrack said Target will have fireworks, too, along with Longs Drugs).
Lilybeth Aguilar and Jennifer Macalma of Lihu‘e Pharmacy had a nice pop-up in the shade of one of the trees, but there were too many cars. Did they actually get a chance to enjoy a short sit-down? People wanting to do COVID testing with Lihu‘e Pharmacy need appointments.
More kudos to Sam Martin, Kaimi Kaneholani and all those hands that got surfboards to keiki from one end of the island to the other. Wow!
They were joined separately by coach Teddy Arroyo and his family, who treated keiki to shopping at Walmart in time for Christmas. And kudos to all the diners at Rob’s Good Times Grill for making possible the November Rob’s Gives Back proceeds that went to the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i that became part of the Westside Christian Center Assembly of God food distribution that got all kinds of extras from all those community partners.
OK, time to get ready for New Year (keep fingers crossed for good weather!).
Elvrine Chow and her brother Hank Zevaat will have kadomatsu at the Pau Hana Market that opens Monday at 3 p.m. at KGC in Lihu‘e.
And, no Grove Farm Market until after New Year, Bill Spitz.
