KAPA‘A — Due to a staffing shortage, the Kapa‘a swimming pool will be closed from Thursday, Dec. 23 to Monday, Jan. 3, according to the county Department of Parks & Recreation. The pool is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 4.

The regular hours of operation are Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m, and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The pool is closed on Sunday, Monday and holidays. For more information, call 808-241-4460.
I think the county should have found a way with 1200+ staff could have kept the pool open and even extend the hours at the local plunge. All kids are on two week Christmas vacation, and just shutting the pool down during the entire period was a stupid and not needed event. This shows that the current management could have done a better job to insure that those kids had access to to activities offered by the county while on vacation. Since there is staffing problem does that mean the skate parks are closed as well?
