Happy Veterans Day!
Janice Bond said the East Kaua‘i Lions Club will be waving American flags in front of the Kaua‘i Veterans Center on Veterans Memorial Highway this Thursday.
The pandemic restrictions may have canceled the annual Veterans Day parade, and the big service at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery, but the Lonesome Graves people (Jim Jung was waiting for Kimberly Hope to take the stage at Gratitude Day last Saturday) will still place flowers and decorations on the gravestones today.
The Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa (was a thrill to see Diann Hartman and her canine companions getting trees for the home Saturday during the Arbor Day tree giveaway!) are also planning to place lei on the graves early Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, the American flags are already flying around the Kaumuali‘i Highway perimeter at the Kukui Grove Center where Stephen Fujii was wondering about all that purple food Robert Tamura has been eating. Bill Spitz couldn’t believe that Tommy Rita was still at the food court when the Pau Hana Market opened.
Congratulations to Mickie Hardin of Lihu‘e Delight who brought her apple pie (whole pie, mini pie, and slices!) and “luxury candles” to the Pau Hana Market. Bev Pang (mahalo for the upcycled rice bag from Po’s Kitchen…she was shopping inside the mini lasted her two days, and Opinder Deol of Shakti Indian Cuisine already picked up her pie before the supply ran out.
