Dominque Chambers of Cozy Bowl (real fancy noodles) created an ulu noodle and turned it into an ulu pasta salad (is that going to be available at the Grove Farm Market?) that everyone was grinding during the Aloha Market hosted by the National Tropical Botanical Garden South Shore Visitor Center in Kukui‘ula, where Elvrine Chow of Heavenly Haku (what kind of fancy flower is cover the hoya?) had some pre-made wristlets for shoppers wanting a grab-and-go floral piece.

Kalena Pacheco of Waipua Garden was pleasantly surprised when her friend Elicia Meyer (Kalena said she makes jewelry and was going to be at the Koloa Night Market) helped sell some of those fancy tillandsia (nope, the one with the purple flower near the painted eucalyptus is not a tillandsia, but a bromeliad). Kalena had a new, delicate one that was being sold on recycled wine bottle corks and magnets as well as in hanging goblets. It’s a good thing they don’t need much water.
The real li hing powder has no food coloring, said Greg Askew, who stopped at the market long enough to show off the packages of powder Ono Pops made in their Hanama‘ulu factory.
Gwen Silva (where’re the trash bags? She was busy coordinating between the entertainment at the market and a wedding that was soon to follow) said it’s really good with fruit.
Kudos to Doug Moises of the National Federation of the Blind on being joined by the Kaua‘i Lions Club (they’re pulling staples out of the Wailua Houselots Park pavilion tables today!) and the East Kaua‘i Lions Club in a sign-waving campaign outside Kuhio Medical Center on White Cane Day on Friday!
