HANAPEPE — The Department of Water (DOW) has issued a water conservation request for customers on ‘Ele‘ele Nani until further notice due to a waterline leak that was affecting the Hanapepe-‘Ele‘ele water system.
HANAPEPE — The Department of Water (DOW) has issued a water conservation request for customers on ‘Ele‘ele Nani until further notice due to a waterline leak that was affecting the Hanapepe-‘Ele‘ele water system.
Customers are advised to limit water use to essential needs only, such as drinking, cooking and sanitation needs to avoid a full water service outage.
Water conservation measures also include turning off fixtures that automatically draw water, including ice machines, irrigation systems and refraining from car washing.
Urgent waterline repairs are ongoing until 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, for an emergency water service shutdown in Hanapepe on Iona Road and Pepe Road.
Customers may experience white or discolored water at the tap and this is normal; water should clear out after DOW crews flush out the water. No customer action is required during conservation notice.
DOW will provide a water buffalo for essential water needs during the emergency water service shutdown. The water buffalo will be located along the entrance of Iona Road. Customers will need to bring their own water containers.
An update will be provided when the water conservation notice has been lifted.
