Mahalo, Robert Tamura, for that surprise bag from the Pau Hana Market at Kukui Grove Center Monday (apple pie coming soon?) that contained some avocado from his home tree, and more mahalo to Janice Akiyama of FM97 for that fancy Mac Daddy (Ron Wood needed some coffee!) from the Aloha Liege Waffles &Espresso food truck that was open Wednesday morning on the way to work in Nawiliwili.

Over at the Storybook Theatre of Hawai‘i in Hanapepe, Mark Jeffers keeps looking at those red lilikoi blooms (the honeybees just pass them over and settle on the blue pea blooms), and wonders about the natural pollinators for the plant that he said was brought by Blu Dux about seven years ago. Nice blossoms, but no fruit. So, how does it proliferate to the point where it’s crowding the door/gate guarded by the Menehune guard?
Mark, Tiffany Gampong, Gerald Hirata and friends invite people to check out the grand opening of the Heritage Media Center today, where Michael Barretto and Friends and Cindy Combs will be entertaining up until 8 p.m. (yes, the sun is going down, and it is the endangered seabirds fledging season).
Sheila Bradley of Usborne Books &More will be opening her doors at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e for the book fair supporting King Kaumuali‘i Elementary School today from 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
That ties in with the Wonderful Wildlife learning kits (Jean Souza said the masks are real felt!) that will be distributed Saturday in front of Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery from 11 a.m., and then at Deja Vu Surf Hawai‘i from 1 p.m., both at KGC, until supplies are gone.
And what, no school Monday? Fall break!
