Eric was busy shopping (chef Glenn Hayakawa of Haole Girl Island Sweets had pear almond croissants on special) and made sure the Miki Macs honey (Dr. Francis Takahashi and wife Joyce Takahashi got to sample Living Foods when they opened earlier in September at The Shops at Kukui‘ula) wouldn’t fall out of his wheelchair.
Sheila Bradley and Usborne Books and More will be opening the book fair again today from 3 to 7 p.m. at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e, with this weekend’s series (they’re open Saturday and Sunday, too) supporting Koloa School. Shannon Hiramoto (daughter Charli Rude still had her Koloa School shirt on while helping her gallery-sit at the 2021 ART Kaua‘i Tuesday exhibit) said they got the memo.
And kudos to Project Vision Hawai‘i’s Hi‘ehi‘e mobile shower on doing a bang-up job (Darnell Sugioka-Costales was so busy at the Ho‘omana Thrift Store in Wailua she didn’t have time to talk) at all of the stops they’re scheduled for. They’re back at the Ho‘omana Thrift Store today from 2 to 5 p.m.
Also today, The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is back to accept recycling contributions at the Kaua‘i Resource Center near Lihu‘e Airport from 8 a.m.
Cece Kilma and the Marshallese Association of Kaua‘i host a community event Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Isenberg Park in Lihu‘e that will feature help for those applying for the county’s rent and utility assistance program with representatives from the Kaua‘i Government Employees Federal Credit Union, Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i with its COVID-19 vaccines, dental items, updates on the vaccines, as well as a lot of connecting to resources such as meals, hygenic supplies, social services and school supplies.
