Kudos, Nikki Ige, Sharyl Lam Yuen and all those green shirts (sometimes, they wear orange, sometimes gray…depends on the memo) for adding all those Kaua‘i Made vendors (yes, Jock Goodman was there, too, near the University of Hawai‘i Master Gardeners. Nikki said they plan on doing it quarterly, the next one being in early December.
More kudos to the Walmart and Longs Drugs teams for setting up the special vaccine and flu-shot clinics where the Joto ‘ohana (yes, they were able to make the Grove Farm Market because they had the first appointments for the Longs Drugs drive-thru event). Karen Joto said she liked doing the appointment because it had all the vaccine options, although they were just going for the flu shot.
And, it was a lucky shot to have Waimea High School bowling coach Todd Ozaki at the market before the team’s first practice after getting the green light on high-school sports. No red-flag notices posted anywhere. Coach Keiko Sagawa-Pananganan said the first Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation bowling match is Oct. 21, with the season continuing for six weeks after that, ending the week of Thanksgiving. Keeping the fingers crossed for continued decline in the number of positive cases.
Melissa Iida, the Special Olympics bowling team assistant coach (the head coach is from O‘ahu) had her team that qualified for the USA Games in Florida getting exempted to be able to practice Saturday at the Lihu‘e Bowl.
