She re-assembled the separated pieces during the Nawiliwili Yacht Club Gene Wells Memorial Series Race No. 4 with a prayer that the winds will be less harsh on Oct. 2 when Kaua‘i is scheduled to do its Walk to End Alzheimer’s, virtually.
Last year, Janice Bond got a couple of friends and they carried their flowers around Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e. So far, the Kaua‘i 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s has more than 120 walkers registered and has raised nearly $37,000 toward its goal of $65,000. There’s still time before Oct. 2. Kudos to Rowena Contrades-Pangan of Ho‘omana Thrift Store in Wailua and Kamealoha Smith of the Hanalei River Heritage Foundation, and all those volunteers, including Wynde Thomas and the Project Vision Hawai‘i Hi‘ehi‘e mobile-shower crew (they were so busy, gotta wait until Thursday at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Kapa‘a to wala‘au) on a great Na Wai Eha help event, where Dory Farias of Hale Ho‘omalu came to help after she couldn’t make the Saturday event last week.
More kudos to Sheila Bradly and Usborne Books &More for doing the book fairs (next week’s event supports Koloa School) over the weekend at KGC, where Rose Anne Jones (she’s still excited about Spider-Man making an appearance at the Center for Spiritual Living telethon) was going gallery-sitting for the Kaua‘i Society of Artists 2021 ART Kaua‘i exhibit that is open daily from noon to 6 p.m. at the KSA gallery.
