Kudos to Kalena Pacheco (she’s related to the mayor of Kilauea!) and Dean and Nikol Nonaka, who were inaugural vendors Thursday when the National Tropical Botanical Garden Aloha Market opened its doors to the surge of shoppers at the South Shore Visitors Center in Kukui‘ula.

Kalena, of Waipuna Gardens, is another source for tillansia.
Happy birthday to Billie Dawson, who celebrated her special day by enjoying the market instead of volunteering with the NTBG. Neil Brosnahan also got a break from doing his photography (Happy World Photography Day!) at the NTBG headquarters to join Billie in enjoying the market (how was that Ono Pop?).
AJ Tangonan and Keiko Napier of Japanese Grandma’s Cafe were pumping out Spam musubi (when was National Spam Musubi Day?), and Elvrine Chow (she only does lei at the Aloha Market now) was wrapping up her dad’s shopping that also included servings of Japanese Grandma’s Spam musubi.
