Kudos, Samira Siale, Paul Toner, Sherry Sanchez Holcomb, Marc Bennor and the support staff ‘ohana! This is one of the rare outings to the Royal Sonesta since the COVID-19 shut down the island.
Kudos, too, to Mayor Derek Kawakami, Kaua‘i Fire Department Chief Steven Goble, Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall Manager Lenny Rapozo (they said he was in the office because the air conditioning was on), and the convention hall support staff for hosting the first event (who forgot their vaccine record or negative test?) in the facility since COVID-19 closed everything, and congratulations to all 30 of the KFD members who were promoted!
Kudos, too, to the men and women and their families of the U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands for being treated to a performance by The Cherry Cherry Band at Shenanigans during this Fourth of July weekend. Mahalo, Steve Kelly, for the nice email and, yes, we miss the group that pays tribute to Neil Diamond, Bob Seger, Bad Company and jazz and country greats. We need to get past this COVID-19 thing so we can enjoy Cherry Cherry in person!
“We love Kaua‘i, Thomas Nizo, and all those great people who put these concerts together, because we could not attend the Waimea Town Celebration this year,” Steve said.
Have a safe weekend!
