LIHU‘E — About 58% of inmates at the Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center have received a vaccine against COVID-19.
The state’s Department of Public Safety Health Care Division reported a point-in-time study earlier this week on June 21 to determine percentages of inmates in custody who have been fully vaccinated.
The average percentage of fully vaccinated inmates in the state was about 54%, including prisons and jail facilities.
“Staff are working hard to convince inmates that it is in their best interest to get vaccinated, not only for themselves but also so they can keep their families and friends safe,” Tommy Johnson, Deputy Director for Corrections, said in a press release Friday. “PSD continues to encourage everyone to voluntarily get tested and receive the COVID vaccination. Our health care and security staff are working around the clock to mitigate spread of the virus in the facilities, and they frequently go back to inmates who have said no to see if they will reconsider, in the hopes that they will get the shot before they are released.”
The average percentage of fully vaccinated inmates statewide on June 21 was 54%.
PSD released the following regarding vaccination rates on that date:
Prison Vaccinations
• Kulani Correctional Facility 89%
• Waiawa Correctional Facility 82%
• Halawa Correctional Facility 71%
• Women’s Community Correctional Center 51%
Jail Vaccinations
• Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center 58%
• Maui Community Correctional Center 47%
• O‘ahu Community Correctional Center 41%
• Hawai‘i Community Correctional Center 23%
“Staff are working hard to convince inmates that it is in their best interest to get vaccinated, not only for themselves, but also so they can keep their families and friends safe,” said Tommy Johnson, Deputy Director for Corrections. “PSD continues to encourage everyone to voluntarily get tested and receive the COVID vaccination.”
Here’s a thought. Offer the prisoners some time off their sentence if they agree to be fully vaccinated before they are released. If we can give school children free donuts to bribe them into getting the “jab”, then the price of “freedom” should surely be worth something. Just make sure their release date is several months after their final “jab” so they won’t be shedding the spike protein produced by the “vaccines” to their families and friends.
