Following the regular season, the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League received approval from the county to host the 45th annual Hawai‘i State Senior Softball Tournament Aug. 3 to 5, centered around Hanapepe.
According to Kaua‘i Senior Softball Tournament Chair Michael Curtis, the league anticipates at least 48 teams playing in six brackets at fields in Hanapepe, Kaumakani, ‘Ele‘ele and Waimea Athletic Field.
Tournament play under COVID-19 considerations means no food booths, no big lu‘au and no opening ceremonies. A coaches meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 2.

We’re good. When I was just 20 years old there were recreational tennis players and softball senior citizen players at Lihue park. This was many years ago. I had my own Toyota Tercel gray that I drove to the park. Every one was interested. No one was into the night club scene. At the park was the night club scene. We would play until 9:00 pm. Then it was McDonald’s time. This was when I was 20 years old. Things have changed. I’m more for the malls and shopping now.
Something to do on a Friday night.
