LIHU‘E — The Veterans Memorial Day Golf Tournament benefiting the Kaua‘i Veterans Council and the Kaua‘i Veterans Museum released the winners of its fundraising tournament contested Sunday at the Timbers Resort Hokuala Golf Club.
Winners who have not claimed their premiums need to contact Aida Cruz at 808-246-1135 to schedule a pick up for prizes.
Bart Thomas, the tournament director, and the Junior Vice Commander of the Kaua‘i Veterans Council said he was pleased with the turnout for the tournament that was put on because of the need to fundraise for the Kaua‘i Veterans Center, and the Kaua‘i Veterans Museum that is located inside the Kaua‘i Veterans Center on Veterans Memorial Highway.
Additionally, because of the COVID-19 rules and guidelines discouraging large gatherings, the annual Memorial Day services were called off for this year.
“We are all feeling the impact that COVID-19 has done to this island,” Thomas said. “So, to be able to host a golf tournament to benefit the Kaua‘i veterans, and the Kaua‘i Veterans Museum was amazing. I was getting chicken skin feeling the energy of the golf players having a great time during the Memorial Day weekend. I would like to extend mahalo nui loa to all the golfers and volunteers for taking time off from their busy weekend to come out and play.”
The golf committee tournament would like to express its gratitude and appreciation to the Hokuala Golf Club for hosting the tournament, Jack Harter Helicopter for conducting the egg drop, MCS Grill for donating the bento, Coca Cola for the beverages, Sadaka and Usa Fruit Stand for the contribution of apple bananas, Ron Wood of FM97, David Lister of FM94.3, the Koloa Landing Resort, Blue Hawaiian, Sheraton Kaua‘i, the Lawai Beach Resort, Kiahuna Plantation, Hokuala Golf Club, Poipu Bay Golf Course, the Kiahuna Golf Club, the Princeville Makai Golf Course, the Kukuiolono Golf Course, and more for the “tons of donations.”
