Mayette Loseto (is she going to have lei for the U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific Small Kine ensemble — they play this afternoon at the Pau Hana Market at Kukui Grove Center?) had visitors Saturday. Aloha, Yulie, Jay, Joe, Grace and Jake Palenapa from Alabama! (didn’t I hear that Palenapa name being called for one of the prizes given away at the University of Hawai‘i-Manoa men’s volleyball national champion meet-and-greet at the Grove Farm Market Saturday in Puhi?).

The family got a taste of mangosteen (Mayette still had some available) and other exotic fruit. Yulie is originally from Kaua‘i, and the ‘ohana was here celebrating Jay and Joe’s graduation from high school!
Ferdinand Dosono (he said Isaiah Dosono is the president of Kaua‘i Kim Chee, he’s just the worker) debutted his new bigger, lighter (!) grill Saturday, where he needed some big fans to waft the aroma of grilling chicken and meat to the crowd visiting the UH volleyball team (congratulations, Warren Haruki and all the Grove Farm ‘ohana on hosting the meet-and-greet celebration!). Those green HPM produce-filled buckets were definitely a score!
Tori Kagawa —yes, it’s volleyball!— was there, although coach Kell Nonaka was busy with the Nonaka Farm (and Bakery) tent for Grove Farm Market shoppers, and Tom Clements came out from the hot Mana weather to check out UH coach Charlie Wade and crew who had the NCAA National Volleyball championship trophy on display, too.
That excitement couldn’t stop Kaua‘i Society of Artists’ Rose Anne Jones and Abigail Boroughs from taking in entries for the Washed Up exhibit that opens Friday (with a reception, Rose Anne said!) at the KSA gallery at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e.
