LIHU‘E — The state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office reported one new case of COVID-19 on Sunday.
Sunday’s case is an adult visitor whose source of infection is considered mainland travel. However, since the individual’s positive test result was received after they had already departed Kaua‘i, Sunday’s case is not counted as an active Kaua‘i case.
The sole active case is in isolation, and close contacts are being identified, offered testing and directed to quarantine. Investigations are ongoing.
Sunday’s case brings the number of active cases to one, with 362 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 320 confirmed locally, three probable, and 39 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on island.
Free testing at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e available weekdays except holidays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Testing is also available through primary-care physicians, hospitals and urgent-care clinic. Contact those providers directly for more information.
If you have symptoms or are feeling sick, you should isolate yourself immediately, stay away from household members and not go out — including to work or school — unless you are seeking testing or getting health care. Those who have been vaccinated should still be tested if they believe they may have been exposed or if they feel sick.
Residents aged 18 and older are eligible for any vaccine available at pharmacy, hospital and clinic locations. The Pfizer vaccine has been authorized for use in those 12 years of age and older, and appointments are available at Kaua‘i hospitals and pharmacies for this age group.
Vaccination is free and widely available on the island, including on weekends and evenings. For details, visit kauai.gov/vaccine.
They funded the vaccines. Because it’s free. Do people still wear face mask walking around? Anywhere. I saw they had a huge gathering at Vidhina stadium and wasn’t concerned about the coronavirus. Do you think that they have solved this disease? No more mask needed? Memorial Day. And beaches. But no face mask. No social distancing. And maybe a few, no clothes on. Sounds normal. Monitoring this? Not really. Have a good Monday.
Per Governor Ige’s announcement on May 25th, masks are no longer required when outdoors, but strongly encouraged in large groups.
“Because we’ve made significant progress, I’ve signed an emergency proclamation making an amendment that will lift the mask mandate for while you are outdoors,” said Ige during today’s press conference. “This is effective immediately and statewide. You will not be required to wear a mask while outside. However, we do strongly encourage everyone when they are outside in large groups to continue to wear a mask.”

Why are there no reports of hospitalizations?
Case counts are meaningless.
They’re just grasping on to the little control and compliance they have left from the mouth breathing do what your told type. This will end soon. And those people who loved the government telling them how to live are going to be lost without a cause. Their doctrine off cnn and fauci have been all but proven false and inflammatory. Soon.
The best case summary with active cases and hospitalizations is Kauai dot gov/covid-19. I only remember seeing one hospitalization.
