Congratulations to all the high-school graduates (hope Jannelle Puplava was not late for the Kaua‘i High School graduation, and Shalyn Vegas was even more radiant at the Waimea High School celebration than the practice at Aloha Dance Studio)!
Congratulations to all the high-school graduates (hope Jannelle Puplava was not late for the Kaua‘i High School graduation, and Shalyn Vegas was even more radiant at the Waimea High School celebration than the practice at Aloha Dance Studio)!
Kaleo Carvalho, fashionable in blue, Waimea’s color, pitched in for Mayor Derek Kawakami (mayor was tied up in meetings with Gov. David Ige, and had to speak at the Kaua‘i High School festivities) in wishing Tsurue Ijima Hashimoto (there are two Hashimoto centenarians at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea!) special birthday wishes on her 100th birthday Friday. Kudos to Josie Pablo, Elsie Bayot and all those KVMH departments for coordinating the special centenarian bash (yes, Steve Kline, everyone was socially- distanced and face-masked) that even featured Dr. Richard Lowen (he’s Tsurue’s doctor) adding to the fun.
Happy retirement, Lee Steinmetz (and Noreen, too) who got a special proclamation declaring Thursday Lee Steinmetz Day. Yeah, Larry Dill was at Kalena Park to share lunch with the crew from the county Planning Department, and Bev Brody was not going to take out that special book until it was time.
Hope everyone got a chance to check out Graduation Weekend at Kukui Grove Center before the pickleball tournament launches today (Larry Feinstein said there a pages-long wait list of people wanting to play).
