Kudos to Kapa‘a Junior ROTC Sgt. Ian Versammy, Col. Smith, Jim Rosa (actually, credit belongs to son Michael, who felt recognition should be extended to everyone enlisting into the military) and the ‘ohana for celebrating the nine Kapa‘a High School graduates, including Sam Keopuhiwa, who is a member of the Class of 2020, Saturday in Kealia, that just happened to be National Armed Forces Day!

More kudos to Barbara Green, president of the Kaua‘i Filipino Women’s Club, for partnering with the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch (it was Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Day Saturday, proclaimed all the government officials from Gov. David Ige on down to the Kaua‘i County Council!) and for getting food to more than 300 families! Celia Melchor-Questin got the four Melchor sisters together to help out, along with Jaevyn Navarro (yep, no football Friday night!), and Addison Bulosan was able to get the Kaua‘i Kollab to do a live performance that was enjoyed by the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League players as far down the road as Puhi Park.
Mahalo to Honolulu Councilman Radiant Cordero, state Rep. Troy Hashimoto of Maui, and all those Young Democrats who were hands-on in distributing food to that line of cars already in line before 8 a.m. Addison (Tiffany Sagucio was practicing her live-video skills!) said the volunteers were also going to paint the picnic tables (gotta start the checkerboards!) at Kalena Park following the distribution.
Mahalo, Nikol Nonaka and ‘ohana (yes, coach Kell Nonaka was there, too!) for the apple half moons that usually sell out early at the Grove Farm Market Saturdays in Puhi. Shawn Shimabukuro said to keep your ears peeled for some exciting news coming up!
