Congratulations, Chucky Boy Chock and the entire Kaua‘i Museum ‘ohana, on the recent awards and donations that included Island Comfort Air Conditioning (mahalo, Ken Starr and ‘ohana!) donating an air-conditioning unit for the soon-to-be completed exhibit center.

Chucky Boy (he was going to have his Po’s Kitchen snack) also showed off the $2,500 award the museum received from the Hawai‘i Japan Tourism Aloha Program, just one of four presented by program.
Mahalo, Kaleo Carvalho (that purple jacket looked real fine!) and the County of Kaua‘i Employee Council (next time, let me know when you folks are going to pick up rubbish, too) on the effort that benefitted both food banks, for their hard work at keeping the island fed during this pandemic and rough weather. Kudos to Donna Lynn Loo and the Kaua‘i Retired and Senior Volunteer Program volunteers for teaming with Kelvin Moniz and the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank on getting food to the homebound kupuna.
Kudos, too, Stacie Chiba-Miguel, kumu hula Leina‘ala Pavao-Jardin and all the organizers of the Saturday concert where everybody followed the COVID rules while bringing in more than 300 bags of rice (benefitting the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch) and, according to Stacie, spending a couple of thousand dollars at community eating places!
Kudos to coach Beau Acoba, Shawn Shimabukuro, Sharyl Lam Yuen and all those Grove Farm people working on Wednesday for all that sweat equity (they also do general yard cleanup, too) in the new, additional parking area across from the Grove Farm Market site. It’s a good thing they did all that work in the morning before the rains came.
We got May Day Saturday when kumu hula Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza will have her Na Hula O Kaohikukapulani dancers on stage at the Kukui Grove Center food court along with other May Day specials lined up by Melissa McFerrin-Warrack.
