Alfredo ‘Rab’ Rabot Jr.
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Alfredo “Rab” Rabot Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, on April 20, 2021.
Since his diagnosis with cancer three years ago, he approached his health with the spirit of aloha, with love and peace. We filled his last days with the sound of his beloved Hawaiian music, talking story, the smells of his favorite Cajun meal, and the company of the ones he loved the most, especially his wife, children and grandchildren.
We will remember his smile. It was a gift, and he gave that gift to others. He could brighten anyone’s day with his smile, his easygoing manner and his love for his family. We are forever grateful for the support we’ve had from our families, our friends, and everyone whose life was touched by Rab.
Rab was born on Feb. 27, 1951, and spent many happy years on the Garden Island. Rab most recently lived in Portland, Oregon. He left Kaua‘i as a young man to join the Navy, where he learned to be a dental technician, a trade put to good use at various places across the country, including Lafayette, Louisiana, where he owned his own business. Kaua‘i was always his home, and he will be laid to rest on the island. Services will be held in September.
Rab is survived by his wife Terry, son Andres (Val), daughter Maria (Allen) Taggert, his beloved grandchildren Patrick, Rosa and Leo of Idaho, as well as his mother Maria (William) Sasan of Kaua‘i, siblings Charlotte (John) Konopka of California, Theresa (Patrick) Morita, Pauline (Raymond) Toguchi, Michael Rabot and Jocelyn Fabiana of Kaua‘i, Deborah (Steve) Riker of New Mexico and Kevin Sasan of O‘ahu. He also leaves behind many beloved uncles, aunties, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mauricio and Melchoria Catbagan, maternal grandparents Andres Valdes and Juanita (Casimiro) Valdez, and his father Alfredo Rabot.
He will be greatly missed by his extended family in Louisiana, especially the Rolkes, the Meyers and the Hollands.
